Celebrating British Carrots – 25th BCGA Carrot Trials

We’re proud to have hosted a fantastic gathering of over 300 visitors in York on October 1st 2026, where the sun shone and the carrots did too! Bringing together the very best of the UK carrot industry — from growers and seed specialists to machinery experts, agronomists and everyone who plays a part in producing one of Britain’s favourite vegetables.

With British Carrot Day on 3 October, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the people, knowledge and innovation behind the carrot, while sharing ideas, discovering new opportunities and, of course, enjoying the much-loved carrot tasting competition!

This year also marks 25 years of the British Carrot Growers Association carrot trials, celebrating a quarter of a century of supporting growers and bringing the industry together.

At Hobson Farming Ltd, we’re particularly proud to have hosted the National Carrot Trials at Crockey Hill this year. It’s been an excellent opportunity to showcase new varieties, explore innovation and help shape the future of carrot production.

Growing carrots is never without its challenges, and this year has been particularly demanding. The extreme heat and challenging weather conditions have had a significant impact on spring and summer crops across the UK.

Rodger Hobson, Chairman of the British Carrot Growers Association, highlights, behind every carrot on our plates is a huge amount of skill, dedication and resilience from growers across the country.

Here’s to celebrating British carrots, the people who grow them and the future of the industry.

25 years of the British Carrot Growers Association — and many more years of growing together.
