Hobson Farming Managing Director Rodger Hobson talks to Chris Choi for ITV News about the effect the hot summer and dry weather has on the carrot harvest.
Chris Choi says “Yes, it’s crunch time for the carrot crop. Bone-dry landscapes have left farmers facing one of the worst harvests on record, and next, low yields are expected to mean higher prices for shoppers. This field is looking like a complete disaster. What are the implications for shoppers when it comes to the prices they can expect to pay?
Rodger Hobson says “The shortfall in England will have to come from overseas, and by the time you ship them from overseas, they cost about three times the amount of home-produced ones.”
