Carrot Growing

Top carrot supplier for UK processing market

Rodger Hobson joined the family business in 1990, learning the craft of carrot growing from his father. Driven by a passion for excellence, Rodger has spent decades refining every aspect of the growing process—from seed selection and sustainable farming practices to implementing cutting-edge technology.

Under his leadership, Hobson Farming has built a reputation for reliability, product consistency, and a commitment to customer satisfaction. Today, this dedication to quality has positioned Hobson Farming as the leading supplier of carrots for the UK processing market, trusted by partners nationwide.

Our carrots are grown on approximately 900 acres of prime Yorkshire sand land, producing over 30,000 tonnes annually.  With carrots needing a very wide rotation we work closely with local farmers, integrating our crops into their rotation and valuing their in-depth knowledge of the land.

We take great pride in the reputation we have established for producing exceptional crops, our meticulous attention to detail, and our commitment to responsible harvesting practices.

Grounds of Excellence

Soil, Quality & Expertise

Exceptional carrots thrive in sandy, well-drained fields, carefully chosen for their ideal growing conditions. Every acre we farm is meticulously analysed before planting to understand the nutrients it requires and seamless integration into our year-round harvest schedule. Throughout the growing season, our process is guided by world-renowned agronomist Howard Hinds, while regular sampling and close monitoring below the surface guarantee that our carrots meet the highest standards of quality.

“Whether in soup, coleslaw, stir-fry or even vegetable crisps you will probably have eaten our carrots!”

Consistent Supply, Every Season

Our commitment is to deliver the freshest, highest quality carrots to our customers every day of the year.  Achieving this standard requires meticulous planning, decades of hands-on expertise, and a touch of flexibility to adapt to the ever-changing British weather.

We carefully select premium carrot varieties to ensure a consistently dependable and high-quality crop tailored for the UK food processing industry. Using advanced planting technology and the expertise of our dedicated team we plant over 1 million carrot seeds per hectare with pinpoint precision, delivering exceptional results and enough carrots to last the year.
